Ok guys, I'm a self imposed gear ****. Whether it's cold, hot, rainning or not. I wear my gear,period. Mainly because of all the injuries I sustained in my accidents when younger but also because I know that the right gear at the wrong time can avoid some injuries.

This is a rider encounter with a guard rail with no gear on.
Hes alive and ok, but as you can see this could well be avoided by the use of a simple leather jacket.

Yummy! and to think my stomach was already uneasy this morning...

 

Gear is important but if it shredded through his skin like that I dont think a jacket would have done much to keep it from opening him up.

 

 

Last week at the college I go to (and volunteer at the EMS) we responded to a call for a motorcycle accident.

Turns out everyone was ok. Just a fender bender at a stopsign. The GSXR600 was just damaged slightly. The only thing that the rider had was a pretty bruised ankle, because he was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt and some nice nikes. Oh and a helmet.

So, make sure that you don't skip out on boots! I'm sure if he was going any faster, things would have been much worse.
