They should've had a couple of those back in highschool for shop class, therewere a couple students who chopped their fingers off using a table saw.

+1 Thats a must. Ive seen two kids cut fingers off. And a kid lost part of his hand screwing around with a buddy on the band saw.

thats freaking awesome. i was like, how is it gonna stop fast enough to not cut you still, but i would much rather have a little cut then a missing finger. amazingly, of all the shop classes i have been in, and considering how much we screwed around, no one ever was hurt. metal was the funnest!

it makes me wonder though... how many times can that brake take that much abuse before it fails............ and when it does fail will it just be the brake or will bits and teeth of the saw and other components come flying off like shrapnel? oh well im not trying to tear apart a good idea but yeah losing fingers aint fun.........

It looked to me like it is a one hit wonder. Once you trigger the brake you have to replace it and the blade. Its not like you are going to run your fingers through a table saw on a daily bases. And if you are then you might want to take it to Home depot to have them cut it for you.

I "saw" that a while back on a techie show. I guess the major saw companies are not happy with it because if all shops require that safetycontraption, then they are out. I think its a good idea but, i'm gonna still support the tools from old school.
