The procedure is actually almost completely painless. You feel some pressure, but slight pressure and not being able to open your eyes for 24 hours is worth it. Until you have had to wear glasses for years its something you will never understand.

You take for granted perfect vision... it would be like wearing a 26lb steel helmet your whole life, and then suddenly one day you go to a new lightweight fiberglass one. The weight is lifted from your head, and its a whole different world.

I has PRK done, they don't use the blade to make the flap. They just use the laser (all that pulsing noise you heard after the flap was moved) to clear the other layer so they can shape your eye. Did you notice, the person is awake for all of this. That part sucked for me and I was in a dark room for over a week with my eyes healing. PRK is more stable than the different flavors of lasiks, but a lot more pain too. I'd do in once a year if needed.... worth every bit of pain.

Why would you need to touch your own eyes?

My eyes aren't perfect, but they're good enough to not need any of that stuff (knock on wood)[sm=smiley23.gif]

Ewwwwww. I hate wearing contacts because I hate touching my eye. This procedure would be pure torchure for me. (I was squirming throughout that entire video.) Ewwwww.
