No need for so much speed...what do you think?

RE: No need for so much speed...what do you think?
Watching...paused video at about the 1 minute mark...
Holy crap...
Over 400 ft lbs. of torque at just 2300 rpm...
By contrast my CBR puts out...I believe a maximum of 45-50 foot lbs. of torque at it's peak power range of around 10,500 rpm's.
But...can anyone handle that much torque without losing the rear end the first low gear corner they come to?
Unpauses video..
Not surprisngly...all rider footage is shown in a straight line...ridden by a stunt rider and not a professional road course rider...and stupidly enough the dramatic shots show this thing cutting through public traffic. That's moronic and shows that these guys haven't a clue as to what sportbikes and repli racers are all about.
They could have made the same bike...and got the same type of drama by making a "hog" version of the bike...or maybe one like the old Yamaha V-Max.
This is not a twisties...road course bike.
The announcer gets on my nerves...and should be made to pay me 185k for wasting my time.

Those shots are from the movie Torque, which, as mentioned earlier, is awesome.

Point is...it's used as dramatic advertising...as a pitch to get people to buy the bike.
Scenario...typical squid kid...rich squid kid...decides against the usual hot bike from the big 4 and buys this thing.
Being 17...18 years old...he doesn't know any better than to try and replicate the same manuevers as is seen in the academy award winning movie footage.
Said squid kid torques himself right into the back of a Fed-Ex truck...
Makes national news because of the rarity of the bike and by being new technology.
Mainstream media lumps this in with all "sport rockets" ...
We all suffer...just because of a bike that is affordable to about 0.0001% of the rider community and apparently is built and envisioned by redneck Jim Bob.
It's a POS imo....don't take it wrong...it's only a comment in a forum.

It may be from the movie Torque...could be from the movie Mickey diddles Spiderman.

Sorry, you misunderstood my point. That whole thing is a featurette from the movie Torque, it's one of the extras. One of the bikes featured in the movie (albeit a short spot at the end) is the Y2K. It's not an advertisement for the bike (Well I guess it is in a way, but I mean it's not a television special or commercial or anything).Just about every single motorcycle shot in themovie has ridiculous stuns in it, motorcycles going off ramps onto moving trains, two girls fighting each other using their motorcycles doing endos and wheelies in a back ally, and the chase at the end with Ford on the Y2K flying through traffic setting off car alarms and making women's skirts fly into the air.The entire movie is a pitch for people to get a motorcycle and do stupid things on it! Just as much as the movie Fast and the Furious was a pitch for people to get rice burners and do stupid things in them. It's not any different from said rich kid buying an Enzo and crumpling that into a telephone pole, it's not new technology, the bike debuted back in 1999 and there are several famous celebrities that own them, it's built by Marine Turbine Technologies, not some rednecks. I realize you're just commenting here but I think you're blowing things WAY out of proportion here.

Perhaps I formed an entire opinion too quickly.
But...and I'm not angry or blowing thngs out of proportion..just having fun....
I still think the bike is impractical for track days, road course racing, or spending time in the twisties, which is what sport bikes are all about.
Too much torque...an untested...except in a straight line...chassis
Besides all that...and again...just having fun here...
It would make a great bike for...well for exactly what it is...an over the top novelty.
