no u buy a gear indicator and you put it on.

they are aftermarket indicators, some dont work all the time on hondas though. figure its not worth the hassle, i listen to my bike and hardly ever look down, unless i pass a cop, lol

leveltwo... i never had problems with the indicator, it always read the right gear. When you get used to the bike, you know exactly which gear u r in from the troque and speed of the throttle response. Still I find it comfortable and reminds me that these bikes do not have a phantom 7th gear.
