It might be God's way of dealing with those that buy Katanas.

Something seems fishy. If he was riding, ie moving, he wasn't grounded and did not get struck directly. If he was stopped and had his feet on the ground, then it's possible he got hit directly. Maybe it hit the ground close to him and he freaked out - like anyone would and caused him to crash.

I still think it would be possible for him to get struck though. I mean a guy my dad works with was driving in a storm and his tahoe was struck by lightning and it put a 4" hole in his fender and the the car died (it fried all of the wiring) So if a moving vehicle can be struck why couldn't he? Its really to bad though, there are a lot of people the ride and get killed by someone else, but who do you blame for that one?

lightening can definately hit something that is grounded, not grounded, moving, or not moving. We have lightening strike our aircraft in all phases of operation ie. airplane sitting still at the gate, moving on the taxiway, and flying. Sucks for the guy but it's true.........

P.S. Buying a Katana can be bad for your health. See.
