Let's Ride Track Day: Buttonwillow Raceway Session #4
Took the novice track school:
1st Session: slow sighting lap lead by instructor
2nd Session: one gear and no brakes
3rd Session: 2 gears and brakes
4th Session and on: all open

Track looks pretty tore up...

Are you that much faster than those other riders, or are they just really slow? Looks like they aren't pushing very hard.

The track is actually better than it was years ago when I did my first track day. There was basically a mini-hurricane or tropical storm the night before, leaving a lot of mud and standing water on the track.


Speed-wise, I was definitely faster. Because it was only my 2nd track day and I hadn't done a track day in over 10 years, I went with the C group (beginner/novice). I do ride a bit of canyons/mountains though. I'll probably go with B group (intermediate) group next time.
