Looks great, sounds great, driven great. Am I the only one that feels a proper sports car should have a manual transmission and a clutch pedal? It just seems like between all the various traction/yaw/brakes control systems some things should be left a God intended.
+1

manual transmissions(either electronic or manual shifting) that use a automatic clutching system are for
p*ssies!!!

Jay Leno (the final say on any car) says he'll never have a car with the paddle shifters... it's not for men!

But I like paddle shifters for the track it actually is faster than using a manual gear box

It is a shame, but not enough paying customers are interested in the truest, manual form of driving. Years ago--it's probably worse now--three-quarters of all Ferraris ordered were 'automatic' transmission. I do think that the line has now blurred between what is considered 'manual', at least with F cars, since what happens in Formula One is alta priorita--the road cars are merely there to help fund the Scuderia--and if buyers demand thoughtless gear shifting...well, then that's what they get as long as they keep buying. The World Constructor's and Driver's Titles are not cheap.

manual floor shift versus button shift!
button shift has a automatic clutch!

keep in mind, old car versus new car!

robotized twin-clutch manual ftw. and consider the fact we in ukraine and russia use manuals for lives, it's not a fancy coolness factor for us, we aren't used to drive auto's. and they robotized clutch is just the best of two worlds, do you really need a stick ? Zigmund Freid has some thoughts on this.

hey mike what's the deal with these Dual Clutches in the Audis and VWs... seems like the shift times would be put down to 0 since there's always two gears engaged... just pull one gear up and the second one is already spinning... pull up the second one and third one is already spinng etc. etc. ... is that understanding correct?

I have a 94-z28 and i love my manual shift, would not trade it for any automatic in the world. However that being said, there is a reason that most of the fastest cars in the world and in sport use the paddle/f-1 style shifting, its faster period.

yep, padle = faster shift times, plus automatic revmatching on downshifts. no heal and toe necesary. Still, on my level of driving (auto x and such) I prefer the regular stick shift. on f1 level of driving...
whatever gets the job done faster I would say.

As for the driver. (I been to several driving schools, and am a fairly decent track driver.) I would say some rich guy testing out his new toy. Shure he can drive, but he is not great:
1 having a cell phone IN THE TRACK, a big NO, NO. (you should even go as far as removing the floor mats, let alone have **** distracting you in your pockets).
2 actually taking your handa off the steering wheel to give it to your buddy, is as squidly as a car driver can get. And we thoght that soccer moms with their phones where bad!
3 you know somebody is truly fast, when it doesent look that fast (smoothness makes it look effortless). Shure, he overtook 3 porches and a couple of sti's but so could I if I had a rocket atached to my back. doesn't mean im a better driver than the guy trying to keep up with me on a bicycle.
4 the way he moves his hands and the fact that he shifted mid corner in about 5 of the turns.

all in all, a great video, and not a bad driver, just not ferrari good :-)

It looked like he was down one to many gears that car was wanting to break loose way to easy. But what do I know I will never even sit it one.

yes, this is how the dsg transmissions work-imho,they are a excellent replacement for the conventional
auto trans.dsg shifts are firm and responsive-you could probably reprogram the control unit to produce
even harder shifts-you wont see this from the factory,as audi would not like the repair costs involved
with broken drive axles and/or the blown-up clutch drums, when cars are brought in for warrany
repairs!!!
