Yeah, his reaction is very cool and controlled; but what I found interesting was the aerodynamic effect.
Once that bird flew up into the wall of disturbed air in front of the bike, it had absolutely zero choice about where it was going. Check out the slo mo around the 25 sec mark.
He didn't so much "hit a bird"; he simply vacuumed it up as he was riding round the track.
