I didn't know motorcycle theft was an issue until I started getting into the sport. I mean, WTF.

Cars aren't safe in a parking garage. Having designated motorcycle parking not under direct observation is like hanging a Free Buffet sign out for bike thieves.

Locks ain't squat Bubba. 2 disc locks would just mean the thieves would have to pick up both ends to load it in the van. Only securing the frame to a solid object prevents a pickup theft. And carrying a chain that wouldn't be a quick snack for bolt cutters 24/7 is impractical

My RC51 was in process of being stolen in a busy Costco parking lot last yr...by a van-load of illegals. Fortunately, I came out to the bike just as they were getting started. I raised hell & yelled that I was calling the sheriff. They split like roaches. Very fortunately, they hadn't started lifting my bike into their van when I caught them...the bike was ok. The van type of theft is very popular.

There was a ring of thieves a couple of yrs ago, that would go rent a U-Haul in the afternoon, steal bikes all night, then return the U-Haul the next day. Worked really well for them til they got caught for speeding & their load of stolen bikes was discovered.

Don't think that a busy parking lot in the middle of the day is a deterrent to thieves...as evident from my story. They'll steal a bike anywhere at anytime.

thats maybe a little more than a minute because of the playback... but i def agree that a location like that is easy pickings for thieves...

for tying down my bike, i usually chain it to my car rim... run the chain thru the swing arm and the rear riim spoke. Take the bike, gotta take the car too

If anyone ever stole my bike, I would burn down every house from here to the other side of the country and if I ever knew who it was that stole my bike... well, let's just say the start of the 3 day session would involve the same bolt cutter they used to cut my chain being used to see how well they'd work on a human rib cage.

That is why I am going to put a 2way alarm and look into low jack for bikes. I have spent too much time rebuilding mine to have some efffing heffer steal my bike. Remember the song rolling with my strap on the side of me, yeah that would be me until I found the douche and held him at gun point until the cops show up. I am just talking out my *** though but not really. Steal my bike and it is on like Donkey Kong literally and figuratively.

EDIT: No LoJack dealers within a 100 mile radius of me. :annoyed:

I looked into LoJack. One dealer quote me $950 and then another $1350 package thats supposed to be better because they 5k towards a new bike... The other dealer said "a Gball out the door, I think they give something if its not recovered". I'm thinking about going with this new Scorpio R-Link SR-i1100 alarm system. Has GPS tracking and sends all alerts to your phone.
