In burn out pits on the hog roast's I have seen the rubber off the tiers burn.
You can see the fire start down by the oil filter so you are prob correct the hedders got so hot they started to cook the oil filter and the ferrings.

If you're smart enough to have insurance, you shouldn't be worried. I crashed my car b/c of stupidity and my insurance covered it. I was smiling and laughing minutes later because no one was hurt.

High RPM burnout and not moving (so no air to pass through the radiator to cool the coolant). Heads are probably warped too. With headers getting that hot, anything remotely burn-able would have ignited. I surprised the tire didn't catch fire as long as that burnout was.

Why a burnout like this?, to take a good grip is ok, but one to dammge a perfectly good tire is pointless!!![&:]
