Ascension day bike show, Lahti Finland
Spent most of today in Lahti with my neighbor walking around the city harbor where the second annual Ascension day bike show was held (Fin:Ascension day = Helatorstai)
http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/d...ke%20maffi.png The event was very well organized thanks to the Sabre MC and MMAF, even the weather had improved from last year as this time it didn`t rain the whole day. This also was the debut for me to participate in a motorbike show albeit the event was very custom biased which has been very clear the whole day from the attitude of certain participants towards us, all the way to some newspaper atricles I`ve seen that has completely neglected the presence of the streetfighter bikes in the event altogether! Childish if you ask me but what can you eexpect from the Harley people :icon_shrug: Bottom line was that we had a fun day and got to see many beautiful bikes. So we were there at 10:15. Pffft, could have come at 11 or later and still be on time. It was immediately clear we were not welcomed by all when the placing of the category poles started, some guys almost got a heart attack when the Fighter section got placed between the custom and chopper and raised a helluva racket. As can be seen it got carried all the way to the other side of the parking lot for a while. http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/yiG4.jpg http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/yiGZ.jpg We decided to be the adults and laugh it off through the window of the bar-ship at the side of the lot while enjoying breakfast. http://kuvapilvi.fi/k/yiGL.jpg Finally all the bikes found their places and we settled to our section being placed to the far edge of the parking lot, cause what they did not take into account is where all the pedestrians come to the area: along the pier side right to the SF bikes :D Even the rain subsided for a while just to start again a bit later. The only one in the lot besides mine. I must say, having seen the other bikes with the turbos and considerably heavier modifications than in mine I was quite surprised when my number was called! Specially since from day one NO modifications on my bike has been done to woo any votes, EVERYTHING is done the way I and I alone want it so I guess I've done SOMETHING right :D I wouldn't have minded the first place and the 1000eur but I'm not complaining as is.

Woo, 2nd place - that's pretty damned good Mattson. Congratulations. Thats a solid group of bikes, especially considering the fighter scene in Finland. Great job.

Thanks for the congrats! I must say I was hoping... but not waiting, so it was a bit of a shock to hear my number getting called. And yea lil Samuli didn't know which way to be amongst all the bikes, grinning from ear to ear all the time :D probly gonna have to use the free pass I got to the Lahti bike expo a few weeks later and take Sam there.
Gonna throw a leg over the bike to go on an all-day ride with the neighbor inna few hours, haven't had the chanche to do that yet this season so gonna take full advantage and head a little further down roads I haven't ridden that much. |
Congrats on 2nd place.
I also like the blue VW trike, all the other ones I've seen are pushers. |
