AMA Suzuki Superbike Showdown @ Road Atlanta 4-18-10... pics and vids
Well my buddy in Atlanta called me the other day and said he had gotten 4 free tickets to the AMA races at Road Atlanta, and I was welcome to one of the tickets. So sunday morning I rode down to Braselton, Georgia and met up with my buddy, we grabbed some lunch then headed over to the track
There's quite a few pics here, but I'm just using my little point and shoot camera, which really sucks for this type of photography (I reeeaaallly want a DSLR!!). So that's the reason there's so many pics, and most of them do suck (sorry!). But you get the idea. I'm not really sorting through all these, just uploaded pretty much all the ones I took and just posting them all
Road Atlanta is a pretty nice track, and it's big! 2.5 miles and lots of hills
We lucked out big time shortly after we had gotten there. We first parked in the general parking area, went and walked around a little bit then came back to get something to drink. As we're sitting there, some people in an RV in the reserved section were leaving, and said we could take their spot if we wanted it. So we backed his Jeep up in their spot, right at the fence overlooking T9-10
Saw this goofy thing as it was pulling in. From what I hear these things go for around $75,000
A few videos (once again, not the greatest quality I know... taken with my point n shoot). We were able to get right up next to the track.... it was very cool seeing just how fast these guys (and ladies too, there is a female racer in there as well!) really go... insane!

All the pics....
This is the bike that blew the tire or whatever it was in the first video, getting loaded up onto the transport trailer back to the pits

These guys came up and asked if they could park their truck in our area for a little bit cuz they didn't want anybody messing with their bikes. These guys travel all around the country and race these souped up little 50cc pocket bikes. If you look closely, they have some melted racing slicks on them, lol

End of the day, all the sponsor trucks started to make their way out
And the track was empty
After the races were all over, we decided to wait a little bit for traffic to clear out. We got talking with the people in the RV next to us for quite awhile, then decided the weather was so nice and the neighbors were great company, we just hung out for awhile. The weather couldn't be beat... about 75 deg and not a cloud in the sky. The track was now empty except for the people camping out there for the night. Had a great time afterwards just relaxing and BS'ing with the fellow attendees for about 2 hours, lol
By about 7pm, I decided I'd better get heading back home so I could make it back at a decent hour (2.5 hr ride). So I head out, grab a quick dinner at McD's, then make my way back to NC
Had an absolute BLAST.... could not have asked for a better day!
