91 CBR 600 F2 new fairing kit.
Just as a disclaimer this isn't my bike, however I did do all the work. Figured you guys over here would enjoy the shiny look of this CBR.
I just sold my gixxer to a buddy of mine (unemployed with billz to pay :/ ) and noticed he had a 91 CBR in his shed with a giant box of styro wrapped parts. Asked him if he was going to ever get it put together, his reply was he was to busy. With all my free time I told em I could do it just to keep busy. Took me a grand total of three days to do, which included some maintenance.
Couldn't Figure out why the light wasn't working... turns out the switch just needed some air and electrician in a can to get it working. I assume the contact points were gummed up or something but I couldn't get it apart enough to see.
Kinda felt like Christmas in August haha.
My friend had went to a bike shop and picked up a "sport bike bolt kit" (in front of the drill) because the lady behind the desk told him every bolt he would ever need to put everything together was in it. Ya.... 3 trips to Can tire and bumper to bumper later. Should probably note that I think the owner before was going for a street fighter look because 3/4 of the panels were missing along with the bolts.
Next was to get the tank off, just wanted to include this and kinda ask opinions because you can see the tank under the tank cover my suggestion to my buddy was to scrap the cover and just take the tank to a auto place and sand (salt) blast it and paint it. What do you guys think?
Never ceases to amaze me how many people think bikes should have underglow. Hehe you can file me under those types that thinks it looks tacky. Was nice to get rid of, because he had a mouse nest of electrical connections under the seat. Being an electrician kinda it always makes me nervous to see other peoples wiring jobs :/
Pretty much stripped down. Did all the maintenance during this time.
After ALOT of custom drilling finally managed to get one side together.
Other side wasn't bad once I knew how to get everything lined up.
Finished product. Was scared at first because I had read some horror stories of guys getting these kits together, hitting the hiway and having all the panels tear / fly off. Took it for a quick rip around the block and fears were put to rest when nothing moved. Anyways hope you enjoy the pics
