Change the oil when you get back. The biggest issue will be the battery. A battery tender would be good, but I would also disconnect it.

4 months isn't really that long for a bike to sit.

Could have an air pocket in the cooling system or that coolant isn't flowing through the wax unit. It needs to have warm coolant to bring down the idle speed.

Why not order a new one from a dealer or one of the many online stores that sell parts? They are not expensive and are readily available.

You don't necessarily need to take it off all the way. Loosen it up and lift it enough to peek under it to see where the wire goes.

As phil mentioned, the front sprocket will wear faster than a rear. As well as checking the teeth, the inside takes a ton of abuse from the output shaft. It must be tight on the splines or it's done....

Might be more cost effective to start over with another bike, and sell it off for parts or keep it for parts if you get another 99. You will need to replace a lot of stuff to replace the hiss system...

Maybe its not the clutch slipping. Have you checked the front sprocket for slipping teeth on the trans output shaft, or either sprocket for really bad teeth?
