You can get a speedo healer to correct the readout if ypu want it to show the correct speed.

By removing the chain and crankshaft, you will already be disrupting the timing. Just make some marks at tdc so it goes back together correctly.

when you get the chain off the cams, put them back...

It will perform a tiny bit better and sound different. The biggest gain is shedding the weight of the stock exhaust.

There are many options, but as stated above, you get what you pay for.

Is your coolant full? Low coolant will starve the wax unit and not let it pull the idle down. Other than that, check the wax unit linkage and idle adjustments.

I like OEM regulators, but you can run whatever you want.

The thing in the cover is your stator. A little oil will leak out if the bike isn't leaning on the right side. If it smells like gas, that's a different issue.
