is F4 a wasted spark system?

It hit me tonight that without a cam sensor, the ECM cannot know which cylinder is on which phase, thus it would seem the F4 MUST be a wasted spark system (coils fire every revolution). Confirm?

Reuse Head Bolts?

Are the factory F4 head bolts reusable? Reason I ask is I know a lot of manufacturers (automotive world) have switched to torque-to-yield bolts which are NOT reusable. Just wanted to make sure.

Well to find out how much pressure is in the crankcase, put a pressure gauge on the valve cover (into a line) and run the bike. If air can't get out of the motor, you will see pressure on the gauge...

I would think vapor line WAYYYYY too small (if it's what I'm thinking) for a free air venting system. Especially at 4ft long, I would guess you would actually see positive pressure in the crankcase...

What breather setup are you using for the crankcase venting (at least I HOPE you are still venting the crankcase!)?

The issue with removing...

1000CC (RR?) vs F4/F4i radiator

What is the size comparison between the 1000cc bikes (RR/954/etc.) and the 600cc bikes (F4/F4i)? I would certainly think the 1000cc bike has a larger radiator, but by how much?

Dimensions of...

Yeah, I just am not sure how I want a gauge mounted. I really want to avoid sticking "stuff" on my upper tree area. Another idea I came up with is the old BMWs (like my dads R75) had the...

I'm trying to figure out what to do about gauges (made a post in the street fighter section). One person suggested mounting (frenching) the gauges "into the tank" which I'm seriously considering...

That's a nifty idea (kind of like some Harleys have). I'm already modding my fuel tank (getting rid of the duct holes) so it wouldn't take much more to build/graft a gauge pod in. I'll certainly...

Gauges/No Gauges?

I'm slowly rebuilding an F4 into a naked/streetfigther-esk bike. The issue I'm tossing around is gauges or no gauges. I'm leaning towards no gauges since I always liked the very clean look of older...

It has been months since I touched the bike. Between grad school, house work, work, kids, etc., I FINALLY got some time to work on the bike this weekend. Since last time I posted (my GSXR600 tail...

Thanks guys. I'll TIG it and go from there. The reason I didn't think anything of just wrapping it, is that fuel tanks are often made entirely of fiberglass and/or carbon.

I can MIG them myself (I planed to TIG the joints closed) but just didn't see much point if I'm going to wrap fiber over the entire tank. Though, it certainly wouldn't hurt.

Still need to get the cylinder head coated but I'm happy with the results thus far. Since I'm going naked, I didn't want anything (other than the stainless bolts) to "show".

The bike is a project bike. I got it for $200 (it was 50% apart due to sitting for 4 years). I have already converted to a 929 triple/K5 GSXR forks, a 600RR swing arm, and machined the rims to accept...
