Default 2017 WSBK Heads-up

Season starts this weekend, Philip Island.

Hope it's more of a competition this year, Johnny Ray won by a country mile last season, which made it a bit boring.

Maybe Chaz Davis can have more luck and be a real challenger.

Don't know if anyone managed to catch the racing, but it was a great start to the season.

Nice to see Marco Melandri back and he's already competitive on the Ducatti. I felt sorry for him when he raced for Aprillia a couple of years back, team orders ruined his season and then he was forced to move back to MoTo GP, where he didn't want to be.

Johny Ray and Chaz Davies are battling like it's the end of last season still

And there are lots of people showing potential.

Slow start for Nikki Hayden, but it's a new 'out of the box' Honda, hope it doesn't take too long for him to develop it into something that can challenge at the front.

Oh no..... I hope he recovers, but that sounds horrible. I happened to start following racing right as he got into GP. I'm a huge fan of his.... His work ethic, his "never say die" attitude, his class (he never throws anyone under the bus)....

This is terrible news!

I've always liked Nicky a lot, he's such a great guy and competitor, with a great positive attitude.

Lets hope his condition isn't as bad as the article indicates and makes a full and speedy recovery.

A bit more info.
Crazy thing is that you don't expect things like this to happen off track. With the amount of danger that they face every day, you would think that riding a bicycle would be one of the safest things to do.

That is just too awful. I was thinking the same thing demon. Plus the article stated he was in the middle of the group of 14. I wasn't like he was on the fringe or doing something unusual.

Update on Nicky. He's still in a coma in critical condition. They say he has suffered brain damage....

He will never ride again, that's for sure. Right now just living through this is enough to hope for. Walking and talking would be a miracle.

This is so unfortunate. The next race broadcast should be interesting.

Yeah, it's not a great outlook. They were unable to relieve the pressure on his brain because of how unstable he was/is.... I'm hoping now that his family is there, more reliable info will trickle out....

I'm keeping the family and his fiance in my thoughts... Again, I'm so shocked...
