looking to get into amateur racing
www.RoadracerX.com has great info. From there you can get into WERA, CCS, AFM, or any of the other series. My trackday club even has a race series.
But go there and you can find out what's in your area. I may throw my hat in the ring in 2010 or so.

yea, I started racing through WERA this year and its a great organization. Everybody who races is really friendly and doesn't mind helping you if you need it (getting the bike ready for racing). I had never been to a track before and showed up at my first race ever (without a racers license) took the racing school on sat. through WERA ($70) and was able to race the next day.... the school doesn't teach you on how to race, but basically an overview of all the flags, entry/exit of pit lane and panic situations.... WERA has a great EMS crew on hand which arrives at every wreck quickly and also gets damaged bikes back to the paddock quickly.... I love it, and sometimes there are young guns in the AMA that still race with WERA.... great organization
It seems kinda odd that in this day and age those with zero tracktime can race. The days before trackdays are understandable, but this is 2008.
jay, i dont know why it seems odd, some people racing/riding comes natural and can excel and adaptto it fast.... ive only been riding street bikes 3yrs 1month, and dirtbikes 8 years....
I think there should be a minimum standard of experience or demonstration of skill. Is the liscensing school a pass/fail type of thing? If it is, then I guess it's OK.
