OUCH!! Just dumped it

'95 cbr F3.. about 50 degrees here in PA. I went to go for an early morning ride to work.. and dumped it 2 blocks from my house. Back tire kicked out while turning left. I smashed my left knee and right shoulder. Looks like I bounced my right side of my head from the scrape on the helmet.

Good thing I was in full gear!!!

let me repeat that...

Full Gear = Home, not the Hospital.

Yeah.. so be kind to your cold tires. they're not the same dunlop qualifers as in the warm weather. they don't stick for ****...

I'm still a bit confused how I hit my right shoulder.. but whatever. leather + pads = no worries. My left knee is doused in ben gay. I'll survive..

I broke the left mirror, and bent the gear shifter. Just minor bumps.. atleast my kids still have their dad ;)

Glad you are ok. Bikes are easily repaired ... people not so much. Hope you heal up quick.

Not really sure this is a "how to" though ... more like a "how not to". Unfortunately cold tires have gotten a lot of good riders.

Yep consider you are riding on ice for the first 5 or so miles when tires are cold.... One slip and you will always be conscious of this fact.

i know the feeling on slippery tires i didnt dump it thank God but came close, was leaving the shop in march in wisconsin, had one of the first decent days out so figured i'd take the bike in for new tires and spring prep, didnt leave the shop till 6 got there at 3, they were busy, so now it was only about 45 out and had brand new tires, went to turn right onto the road out of the shop which is on a up hill, rear tire didnt stand a chance, broke free as soon as i let the clutch out goin right. thank God for strong legs it tipped but i kept it upright started goin again and tire slipped again but i was goin straight so not a big deal, slippery ride most of the way home took a little bit to trust those tires just from that little instance even tho i know that they were fine once they got scuffed in.
