Msf brc 2?
 

I signed myself up for the Basic Rider Course 2 coming up this Sunday. Ive ridden about 20,000 miles, over some years on my permit. Ive read up on the BRC2 from the MSF website, checked a few Youtube videos, and dont see anything too difficult.

My question is: What is the down and dirty of this course? Tips? Tricks? Suggestions? Stories?

Ill be riding my own 1000rr.

20,000 miles on a permit? How come you never got your licence?
Any riding course is good, even for riders with years of experience. My guess is that you will probably find it not too challenging, but will learn what bad habits you've developed. Let us know how it went and what you thought of it.

I could make up some story, but the truth is sheer laziness.

Hopefully it goes well and I can finally get that big M endorsement!

I had mine for two years....I didn't want to deal with the California DMV. I completely rebuilt my Harley, motor and all, in the meantime!

Many MSF Instructors require the BRC as prerequisite b/f the BRC2. I'd check w/ your local instructors to verify. Prob won't be an issue tho.

I'm very surprised that you went that period of time on a permit. Many jurisdictions have regs in place to either prompt you to get your license or you end up riding on an expired permit.

My advice is to show up with an open mind. There is always something to learn, and I can think of worse things do to with my day....

Quick update: Passed, now have an M endorsement.

It was hotter than hell, and I almost died from heat exhaustion but the course itself was good.

On a nicer day, it would have been fun. But at 95 degrees without a cloud in the sky, it was brutal.

I didnt like having to be in second gear for some of the exercises because of the low speeds/low rpms, but those were the rules.

Covered 9 areas like quickstops, cornering, swerving around and over obstacles, etc.

Having ridden for so many miles in all conditions, there is no way I could have ever sat through a BRC1 class, but thats me. We actually had a guy who brought a scooter that he had for 1 week (never ridden before) to the class, and he passed (scary, lol).

Anyway, I wouldnt do it again over the summer months, I suffered serious heat exhaustion afterwards (Brought tons of Gatorade and water and wasnt enough).

I'm just happy to have the big M so now I can legally do what Ive been doing!
