I actually use ear muffs. I took your standard weedeater/lawn ear muffs and cut the suction part of it off and pieced out the middle and glued the back part of the earmuffs back onto it (so that it would fit in helmet) and seriously you can't hear anything for the most part.

I've tried headphones, ear plugs, molded ear plugs and about anything else on the market and they don't work for me.

Negative. I use ear plugs but I can still hear what is going on around me. I avoided being rear ended once because I heard the car screeching the brakes behind me and had time enough to dart forward into the intersection and out of the way.

NO MUSIC if I need to really concentrate (canyons, lanesplitting, hectic traffic etc). On occasion I do turn on music, it makes my daily same same route more fun. I have to say tho it does make me ride more aggressive (I listen to a lot of fast music)

One of my helmets has comms fitted and I rarely use it, I find music a real distraction and I really don’t want to accept calls when I’m riding. I like a bit of peace, solitude and being alone with own thoughts.

I use a Cardo system in my helmet. Speakers mounted in the helmet. I wear ear plugs to protect my hearing on all rides regardless of the length. I already have tinnitus and don't want it any worse. On long rides I'll play music, but around town I'll often forget to even start it. Typically I'm riding with my wife and we can talk between the bikes when we're heading someplace.

I prefer to listen to the motor, exhaust, and the world around me. I don't want to cut out one of my senses that is a valuable input tool to better my riding. I like the sound of my bike....
