Default Track Day Gear...What's the best?

I'm about to attend my first track day and wanted to know where I can find the best deals on one piece and two piece racing suits. I prefer Alpinestars gear, but I'm open to anything that is a good value. I am leaning towards two-piece gear so I can still wear one piece (jacket or pants) when not on the track.

Can someone help me out?

Alpinestar is very good quality. If you're looking to get a cheap two piece suit you can get Fieldsheer for under $450.

don't get a 2 piece suit. if you wear the jacket by itself, it tends to be a bit short.

go for like an alpinestar jacket and then their track pants.

One thing you must remember that the week point of any two piece suite is the connection mechanism. That is why some tracks only allow one piece suites. With that being said. If the convience of a two piece suite is a priority, insure that the zipper is heavy duty and that it has velcro to back it up. If the zipper fails you will have a large portion of your body exposed in a crash. I currently have a shift one piece. I must say I love it.

I got my one-piece Joe Rocket halfprice cuz it was the display suit on the mannaquin and it was the last one. It fits perfectly, with no bagginess. I've worn it in blazing deserts and thunderstorms, riding 5000 miles, andliving it for days on end. It hasn't popped a seam, nor ripped a zip.It is in better shape than I am. Its like those wetsuits; "Bodyglove", only leather.
Suspenders would help keep pants on in slide, if in loose two-piece. Pax,G.
