Default Question regarding cleaning helmet

Hi Everyone.

I currently have a Shoei rf 1100 helmet. I use plexus to clean the helmet (which I use on my bike as well). However when I used plexus on the face shield it left a smudge that seemed hard to clean off. So I been using this bottle of iklear which I use on my laptop screen.

Just wondering what everyone else uses to clean their face shield?

Honestly the best way I have found to clean it is to take a damp cloth, with water only, and wipe the face shield. Then take a dry cloth and wipe off the water and wipe it till it is completely clean. This doesn't leave any streaks at all and no glare from headlights during night time.

I've never liked to use any chemicals on it. But that's just me.

Edit: An old T-shirt cut up works great for a cleaning cloth

I have a rf-1100 too. In the book that came with it, they recommended warm soapy water and a soft cloth for cleaning the shield

if you have dried bug guts or other hard debri on your windscreen soak it so it will wipe off. this will minimize scratching.

I personally use a microfiber detailing towel and distilled water.

in the past i have used, disenfecting cleaning wipes(for safety glasses), pledge, and car detail spray. no ill effect from any of them. I personally prefer to live with a scratch rather than a blurry/smudgy screen. so I prefer not to use these.

I use warm water and a soft cloth to wash it, dry it, then apply RainX. I clean my helmet with windex multi-surface spray then apply Ice. It makes the bugs come off easier. I also use Ice on the shiny plastics of my bike.

I use "Invisible Glass" by the company Stoner. Works perfect and it doesn't affect the shield at all. The key is THE CLOTH/RAG you use. I use either an old t-shirt or a nice "microfiber" type cloth. Using the combination above I've never had a scratch/swirl.

For my Arai, I use soapy water (just Dawn; not something with 'moisturizer' in it) to wash the shield. To dry, I merely pat it with a cloth or soft paper towel. That's what the Arai literature that came with it said to do, to avoid scratching the 'iridium' coating over time.

I use Honda Polish & a yellow micro fiber towel. Keeps my shields perfectly clean (smells good too).
