My first jacket was a Teknic textile jacket... great jacket.. just little to no venting made it uncomfortable in hot weather... now I have a Scorpion Hat Trick that has 2 liners... love it for HOT HOT weather (90s) and even into the 40s and 50s.

Its on sale at most places now too for like $100

I love joe rocket and have always used that brand but the jacket that I use the most is a teknic that I bought on ebay as a close out. I only payed 100.00 and it is a leather free style perforated black with red letters. I like it because even though its leather it doesn't feel hot in my 105 degree weather. I think teknic is the best bang for the buck and after a couple of accidents I defenently want leather. Johnnyh

I say go with leather nd with either A*, Joe Rocket, Fieldsheer, or Tecknic. Personally I dont like Icon. Why? Because they were/are more about looks than function. With that said tho, I believe they have gotten better the past couple years as they've gotten more popular. I still dont care for em tho

I don't like Icon for a practical reason. Within the 1st week of owning one of their Motorhead (I think that was the style) every single snap fastener was broken off.

I'm with everyone here. Follow classic's reasoning for a good choice in what to get.

As far as brands I also will endorse A* and Teknic. Almost all of my gear is A*'s and was a huge jump from my old SS and Joe Rocket stuff, but I recently picked up a Teknic 1-piece suit and just can't say enough good things about it. Really great products.

I'll also not endorse Icon. I think they're mostly about image and don't seem to be very good in form or function. Build quality seems to be pretty meh...

My vote goes with Dainese. Some of their gear is very high end. But the quality of the gear I've gotten by them makes it worth every penny in my opinion. They also have affordable gear as well.

I would recommend an Alpinestars textile jacket. I got the T-RC 1 Air-Flo for $220 and I love it. Check out their other textile jackets, they range from $150 to $300.
