Default Ahhh Helmet noise

Anyone have any Idea's how to lessen Helmet noise??

I wear ear plugs but its still dreadful

Its not a cheap cheap helmet but not an expensive one either, its a flip up as I use it for commutting.

Shall I look at another full face helmet for non commuting??

Anyone recommend a helmet that's between 100- 200 pounds that is fairly quiet and light??

Hands down the Shoei TZ-R is the quietest helmet I ever wore and I picked it up for $300-350.. I think.. It's the bottom of the line Shoei (but still a Shoei) and it doesn't really flow air at all, but there's a reason it's so quiet. If you're worried about wind noise, avoid HJC. I've also had an Icon Mainframe which was somewhere between my current HJC FS-15 and the TZ-R and I believe it was the cheapest of the three.

Flip-ups, although somewhat better now than yesteryear, have been notorious for wind noise. There's not going to be much you can do to the helmet itself to decrease wind noise except putting more dense foam in the ear area, which won't cure the problem given the flip-ups construction, but could help.

W/ helmets, you do typically get what you pay for. I'd recommend looking at top-tier helmets like the Shoei, Arai, etc. Their construction is typically better, lending themselves to being quieter. However, each consumer experiences things in a dif way. While the previous statement is my own experience, its proven to be true overall by most helmet reviews.

If you have a Cycle Gear nearby, you can buy off the self or special order. They have a great helmet exchange policy. While there's no refund, you can swap out helmets as many times as necessary til your happy w/ your selection. Its something to look into as an option. FWIW, I've purchased 2 helmets from CG this way & it was a good experience.

Good luck in your quest.
