Yeah, I read they can scratch a little too easily, so I didn't get the mirror shield...I went for the CF-1V, which comes with tear-off posts and is dark-smoke (closer to medium tint, actually). But the best part is the actual tear-offs...they're totally transparent from inside the helmet, but on the outside, it looks like the dark visor has its own Spectra mirror--it feels like I have two visors in one--my X-11 looks straight off the track. Awesome.

Here's where I got both the visor and the tear-offs for a great price...

NewEnough is my fave

I'm sorry my camera is refusing to interface with Windows, or else I could post up some shots of how great the look of the tear-offs is...honestly, it feels like I have both dark smoke and a mirror shield without any of the concern for scratching. Yippee!

RE: Shoei CX-1V Spectra Shield

i have a spectra blue...love it when riding in the day and looks awesome...can still see very clearly at night (although i would not recommend it to anyone else but myself; because it is illegal and unsafe)

riffs: when riding in the twisties and wooded areas, the reflection of your own face from the sun is very distracting under certain lighting conditions...i can see the beads of sweat on my nose sometimes...very distracting, i imagine smoked ones absorb some of the image and not reflect as much...

does scratch easily; somewhat...but then again, i put my RF1000 on my handle bar and it somehow slipped off...the visor was in the most upright position so it landed squared on the visor...good thing my helmet wasnt touched...that was a 2.5-3ft drop on cement...so actually, its pretty durable barring you dont drop it like i did...no new scratches since that accident...
