AGV Solare Textile Pants Review

AGV Solare Textile/mesh Pants

Fit: I wear a 32,30 pant. I bought these in the "Large" size to wear as overpants. They fit well as overpants, but also fit well as pants. The length is fine either way with a pair of boots, and the waist is adjustable with velcro straps, so they work fine anywhere in the range of 31-34 waist.

Quality: Put these on, then tried my damnedest to rip out the seams in the crotch, knees, and pockets. They held up. I do this with all new pants because I have a bad habit of splitting seams just out of warranty. The front "hand warmer" pockets are great for a cell phone and wallet.

Feeling: Went for a quick 20 mile ride with these as over pants, they seem to fit and bend in all the right places. They feel secure once Velcro'd around the waist. Can't quite comment on the ventilation feeling in the legs, as I was wearing heavy jeans underneath them, but it was an odd feeling having the breeze sneaking up the back of my leg and making my butt cold.

Pros: For less than 90$, they seem to be of a really good build quality, the reflective piping on them is a nice plus, and they've got CE armor in the knees and impact pads on the hips. They seem like they'd protect well in a crash.

Cons: The leg bottoms do unzip about 12", but not far enough to slide the pants off over the boots. I guess this is to be expected, as they're not really overpants. But it's still worth noting. Also, these are strictly mesh/textile pants. There is no removable inner windproof/waterproof liner, so they're definitely one season pants for when the weather is nice.

Nice write up! Overpants are awesome, I rock mine over my khakis when I commute to work and rock them alone on weekend rides. AGV Sport stuff is usually pretty nice and decently priced.

I actually worked as a summer intern at AGV Sport a few years back!

I was trying to have them make me a custom jacket. They sent me what they need from me which I gave to them. Since then, they said they are super busy and they did not get back to me on quote yet and it's been almost a month. I rather have them make than china people. But I really don't want to wait 6 months. I wanted the white leather because I only have black. I think I will give china people business

Nice write-up, comodidit! I have some Spidi Hurricane pants that I use in roughly the same way you use these AGVs, and I sure like being able to use one set of pants as both overpants and 'plain' pants. Glad you like the AGVs!

UPDATES: finally I got the quote from them. They said they didn't receive my measurements through their website so I gave them what they need. Since then it is moving smoothly. They will be able to finish it in a week or 2. I was getting frustrated about the long wait. They also felt bad about that too, so gave me $25 off. So after the long frustration, I change the review on their customer service to the good side.
