Default CBR125R (2016 Repsol) - Attempted theft, ignition busted.

So, today I went to move my bike from the car park it has been in for a couple of months (SORNED off the road due to an injury) to the car park at the building I live in (extremely secure). The car park it has been in has a massive metal shutter, is fairly well lit - and I'd consider it to be pretty secure.

The ignition was completely jammed. Unable to start, and I busted a key trying to turn it back. Took 40 minutes to get it 0.3 miles to the other car park (obviously with the steering lock stuck on... I could go left, or slightly to the left... not straight or right). I don't really want to pay £300+ for a new ignition - so can anybody point me in the right direction of attempting to replace it at a lesser cost? I'm fairly hands-on.

Pictures are below.

Ignition forced on, completely busted - managed to bend one of my two keys completely trying to force it back.

Trusty disc lock defeats a pair of scissors.

Welcome to the forum luxidev, sorry to hear about your troubles, there are some real dicks about....

Anyway, your best bet would be a second had switch (set) from a breakers or dare I say Ebay.

People have struggled with the much cheaper generic Chinese Ebay units esp on the F4i, so not so sure about 125.

If you can't get a second had set then unless you can get a replacement from a reputable UK seller then I'm afraid I would go OEM

Cheers
Al

At a push you could give this a try, whip of the ignition connector and plug this in to see if it works, if it doesn't then should be easy enough to return and get your money back and you haven't has to strip the bike down too much.

Best deal is used OEM ignition from EBay. Then take it to locksmith to have it reconfigured to match original locks and keys. Then you can re-use same keys on all locks
