big trip/little bike..

hi all,

Hi recently bought a cbr 125r 2007 model, i bought it to use it for transport around town and small trips..

I am hoping to do some larger trips (up to 8-9 hours) back home to see my family. I am only new to riding so obviously i will wait till i am comfortable and more experienced but i would like to hear some feed back on others opions/stories/tips.

Cheers guys

any trip is always a good one,
just plan for what you hope to get from any trip ie;
short trip requires little planning other than destination, and time
longer trips need stop points, fuel points, luggage (panniers perhaps) as rucksacks can get heavy on your back.
camping equipment, map holder or tank bag, food

just get on your bike, have a pocket full of money, and head off somewhere, stay there and either carry on or go home.
every journey starts with putting your leg over your bike.

enjoy

thanks for the help :)
so you think a 125 would handle a longer trip??

elevensies 09-13-2011 07:40 AM

yes, you will have no problems with it only being a 125,

possible issues are may take a bit longer to get where your going, but it will be good on fuel, and life is not always living at 170mph.

i love my cbr 125 just as much as i love my blade, and they both get used for the mundane, the tour, and the fun.

enjoy

hows the bike doing?

bikes is going great :)
cannot believe how easy it is to ride and learn on, i am really happy i bought it for my first bike..
have not been able to do a trip yet i have only been around town and on some nice windy quiet roads, getting used to the bike and its and my capabilities..
it is the first bike i have ever owned but i dont have a problem at all with shifting and using the clutch and i am getting more and more confident with the bike..
CANT WAIT FOR MY FIRST TRIP :) :icon_bike:

I once did a 700 mile trip on a 50cc Honda Sport back in the 60's. Top speed 45 MPH

The 125 will handle anything, the question is will your body take the strain ? :)
It's harder than you may think !
Drink plenty and stop at least every hour for 5 mins to restore circulation in your butt (and your hands)hehe
Enjoy !

Have fun.... big trips/little bikes are challenging but can be fun.

There's a book about a guy that rode a Honda Postie (google it) from Australia to the UK. If 10000 miles can be done on 110cc you should be fine.

Enjoy.
