My 2 cents .. .Get an older 600 for like $2K. Ride that for about a year and get familiar with the bike in general. Then upgrade next year when have a better idea and understanding of motorcycles. My first street bike was a F2 for $1800. Last year, I stepped it up after almost 2 years on the F2.

Chances are depending on the type of person you are...If you have your heart set on one of those two bikes your not going to back down from what you want all we can do is offer advice which IMO is a good idea to listen to 1. do A LOT of research you might change your mind (I did) 2. Invest in GOOD Gear 3. You most likely will drop it. sooooo if you want it to look nice get something older and learn! doesnt have to be a beater but get something nice that works and then eventually go with the 600rr or the zx6r...my vote would go 600rr but might I suggest F4i ? My first bike and I Love it! Use your head and be smart! Welcome to the Forums By the way Let us know how things go for you!

When I first started looking for a big bike I also looked into buying new or nearly new. After hearing advice from experienced riders I decided against getting a new bike and bought a 91 F2. It had been sitting for years in some guys shed and the price I paid to get it and myself on the road is a fraction of what you'd pay just for a new bike.
Its only a matter of time before something happens and IMO its alot better to ditch a less costly bike than a brand spanking new one. I dont feel the F2 is any less of a bike, performace wise it'll keep up with todays 600's and its looks are growing on me the more I ride it.
In a year or so and if I want to get a new bike. Ill keep the F2 as a backup bike.
