Xbox took a crap, NOT covered under warranty
Well I turned on the 360 lastnight to find a red ring around the power button. Called xbox support today expecting to ship it in for a new one for free since they extended the warranty to three years. Well turns out the normal red ring of death is where 3 quadrants light up red, mine only lights the lower right one up, and it's not covered, which is total bs. They want 100 bucks to send it in for repair.
So what happens if I send it in and another 2 years the same prob happens? I gotta dish out another 100 bucks I don't have? I buy this piece of **** and it lasts me for less than 2 years while my original nintendo is 20 years old and still kicking strong...
So now I have this piece wrapped up in towels sitting on the heater trying to get this bitch to overheat and get three rings... we'll see

RE: Xbox took a crap, NOT covered under warranty
that sux. ive been lucky with my box and had no problems (knock on wood)
i also try to take very good care of it (as well as all my things) and always go to the dashboard before i shut it off, then click the shut down button instead of just pushing the power button.
alot of ppl dont do this, but i feel that it is easier on the xbox to stop the disc fromspinning and not be int he middle of loading graphics from games and all that, then shut it down rather than just stop it in th middle of it all.
just a suggestion to those who dont do this, it may extend the life (at least i feel like im taking it easy on the ol' Box)

Worth a shot. It doesnt have a warrenty so might as well crack it open. M$ did the cheapest way to cool the 360 and all need to be fixed. Even if yours hasnt had any problems, it will eventually.
