i have to +1 the idea of offering the money back, to at least clear your conscience, plus if they say, no keep it....then you have a clear conscience AND $200 bucks.

 

Yes, I would just go back and talk to them all Tony ..seriously, yes offer the money back too. but also talk to them ..just be honest and tell them you feel terrible about it all but you didnt expect this job to transpire ..tell them its all bad timing and they will understand .. you will feel ten times better for doing it :-)

Dude, it happens. No reason to feel bad about it. Do they usually hand over cash like that for birthdays? What a nice thing to do...

 

Explain to them that you found something you enjoy more. Apparently they're good enough friends, and they'll understand.

 

Oh, when they decline the money back then take them for a drink :-) ... 2 x $100 is about what?? £100 of our money ..that will buy them all a drink and still have lots left over ..just another idea and if they are friends then keep them as friends outside of work too :-)

200 bones, nice. I wouldn't feel bad at all about it. They probably thought you were going to be sticking around longer then that to be giving a nice bonus after your first week or two, but i wouldn't feel bad about it. I miiiiight say i can't accept it knowing i just put in my two weeks notice, but probably not.

 

If they don't take it back, I 2nd the motion of using the money to buy something for the crew ... (depending on number of workers) maybe purchase a nice catered lunch for them and have it delivered keep the other Benjamin without as much guilt.
