I can't remember the last time I saw a movie where the protagonist failed in the end, and being surprised like that is a good thing.
Crank... although he wanted to kill that guy and did, it was sad bcuz he the whole dying thing... although they are coming out with a sequal to that movie ahah its going to be awsome. and yes a sequal not a prequal....

I thought it was a pretty good movie... my girlfriend hated the ending though...

and speaking of the "protagonist fails in the end" theme, watch dodgeball sometime. Believe it or not, there's actually a reason for that crazy scene with Will Ferrell after the credits. The original ending of Dodgeball was when Pete got eliminated... there was no sudden death. But test audiences didn't like it, so they changed the ending...

It amazes me that as a society we were able to except that certain members of Germany's military doing the second world war was not accountable for their actions because they were only for filling an oath that they had swore to uphold.
Did you just compare understanding the the mechanics behind the Holocost with the acceptance of watching alovestory where the participants are men?

After a few minutes of writing (and erasing)a rant, I know the answer. The Media. It always amazed that the Germans, while in the middle of a war for the survival of theircountry, would expend such resources to gather, poison, andincinerate millions of people. We all respect German engineering, efficiency, logic, and science, So how did this happen? I guess we don't know the Marketing Plan of the **** party and how at that time so many good smart people could be duped into genocide, we haven't heard HOW the jews became hated. We haven't heardWHY the jews were singled out and blamed. These reasons will die off sincenobody will ever be allowed to present that side of the arguement to the public on the history channel, or Steven Speleberg will never make a movie where the Hero is an Aushwitz guard. My guess is that there were reasons that it happened, none of them great reasons of course, but reasons good enough to the Industrialists and Soldiers of Germany that participated in the the extermination of millions of people because they were told to.

Fast forward to Brokeback Mountain where Hollywood is always trying to shock up with nonsense to make money. They created a buzz due to controversy and took a mediocre, distasteful movie and made it HUGE. People only know what they are told, whatever is told to them the loudest and most often become their belief. So maybe if tens of thousands of intellegent men can be convinced to attempt to exterminate an entire culture, maybe people can be made tobelieve that a movie like Brokeback Mountain was great.

Hardcorp, while you understand your bounderies and why you have them, not everyone is that clever.

Sorry for the distress Fishfryer I tried to somewhat make clear in my first post I would never condone or personally accept the atrocities that were committed against the Jewish community by the **** party but I'm just amazed at the fact the whole world was just willing to accept that certain people were involved because of a oath to the party of course there were others at Norberg. An excuse like that was totally unacceptable for their conduct. I chose a poor example for what I was trying to convey, at that time in the world a individuals word was there bond and was something a individual was expected to stand behind. As to how so many intelligent individuals were deceived is the best question of all. Could it have possibly been a adequate propaganda machine not so much unlike our own movie industry

as to being clever I don't consider myself being clever. I just have a code of conduct to which I do my damnedest to obey.

Now to contribute something worthy to this thread would like to say I was not overly impressed with American Gangster felt like they just skimmed the surface of his life I would've rather saw a year in the life of a American gangster with some real insight instead of what we got just my opinion though

the worst movie I've ever seen was 8 Crazy Nights

2 friends and myself went and were in the theater with 2 other people...after 10 minutes it was just us
we climbed in the projection booth looking around and left about half way through

and I've never left a movie early before or since
