I think that some people have to chill the **** out and realize that nothing is meant to hurt when we are just havin fun. Thats the whole reason Im even on this site during the day normally...to escape my damn cube world driving me nutz.

I have yet to see the resolve to whatever last night created and I dont think that it will be an easy effort either because how can you lock down an "Off topic" area....thats what its there for! I can understand that politics would be nice to keep to a minimum because some people get pretty defensive and testy over it because of separate views...much like religion too. Is it a lack of humor or is it a desire to keep things standard...I dont know, but people have to be able to step back and pull out of a thread if they really feel threatened. This isa public internet forum, not a damn school.

So put your damn maginas away and lets get back to the brotherhood/community we have always had and enjoy our time here.

I remember an experiment:

[blockquote]Start with a cage containing five monkeys. Inside the cage, hang a banana on a string and place a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to the stairs and start to climb towards the banana. As soon as he touches the stairs, all of the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. After a while, another monkey makes an attempt with the same result, and all the other monkeys are sprayed with cold water. Pretty soon the monkeys will try to prevent it.

Now, put away the cold water. Remove one monkey from the cage and replace it with a new one. The new monkey sees the banana and wants to climb the stairs. To his surprise and horror, all the other monkeys attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to climb the stairs he will be attacked.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with enthusiasm! Likewise, replace a third original monkey with a new one, then a fourth, then the fifth.

Every time the newest monkey takes to the stairs, he is attacked. Most of the monkeys that are beating him have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs or why they are participating in the beating of the newest monkey. After replacing all the original monkeys, none of the remaining monkeys have ever been sprayed with cold water. Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs to try for the banana.

Why not? Because as far as they know, that’s the way it’s always been done around there.
[/blockquote]
To be honest, we are no different. We see a certain type of behavior, we tend to mimicking it. People takes sides and poo starts flying. If someone comes into the forum and sees this, they will either leave or they will join in. How much can you take before you decide to leave?

The one thing I like about the forum is the wealth of information on here and the propensity for people to help when you are having trouble.

A little razzing between friends is not a big deal...as long as it does not get out of hand.

When I first looked to move into my current neighborhood, the one thing that struck me is that everyone you drove by stopped what they were doing and waved to you. This kind of caused those who move in to do the same thing. It made you feel good.

Having someone come in and **** on the parade would not be a good thing. Before long, just like the monkeys, everyone would stop doing it. I think having people in the welcoming department is a good thing. People making others feel welcome help make people want to stay. But like a drop of oil being tossed into a lake...a negative individual tossed into the mix, tends to affect all those around them.

I think there was a point to this post...but I am at work and lost it...can someone else tell me what it was?

Nothing here worth taking that seriously, or creating multiple threads about. It'll change, blow over and as soon as the threads scroll off of the front page we'll be on to something else.

I'm pissed off because I haven't had a good top speed or po-po thread to bash in ages.
