I'm not entirely broke, I'm a 1099 employee, which is a "contract" employee. By federal law, anyone who "employees" a 1099,
can not dictate when, where, what hours, or how the contractee does their job.

All the employer can do is worry about results, about if the contractee gets their assigned work done.

I pay my own taxes, have no employer provided health coverage or insurance, etc. etc.

Ther is an upside to this.

I am my own boss, even though I go to an office and recieve a paycheck.

This January, I take on a bit more resonsibilty on the risk assesment side of the business...making financial decisions forsome of the company's clients.

Hence the 50k..31 hour work week I mentioned earlier.

Right now, I'm on houlry plus profit sharing.

Last week, I made $31.84 per hour. My best week was about 9 months ago...$75.86 per hour.

But, that's up and down being on that type of pay.

At 50k divided by 52 weeks in a year, that is $961.53 per week.

Divide that by 31 hours...that's a little over $31 an hour.

Not as good as that one week, but it's guarenteed also tat I don;t have a week with a $234 paycheck or some such crap.

But I digress.

Interesting.....

That's exactly what I'm wanting to get away from... the fluctuating pay. It makes it really hard to budget anything when every week is a toss of the dice. I'm at $21.50/hr which isn't terribly bad, but I work flat rate, so I only get paid on the jobs I turn. When it's slow like it has been lately and I'm standing around for most of the day with my thumb up my ***, I'm making nothing. Sucks!! Seems like every week it's a fight just to get paid for the min 40 hrs that I'm actually there. It can be great when there's alot of work... my best week was actually at my old job my last full week before I quit to move up here to GA... 71.9 hrs. But last week I don't think I even had 20 hrs F**k that.... I need something consistant. Pondering getting into the HVAC field.

I do like the sound of your schedule though.... lol

Hmmm...an escape ride...

We sometimes sneak away on an afternoon...Friday is supposed to be pretty - 67 and partly cloudy; my assistant at the office has an R1, so I know his boss would let him off, too.

They aren't near as good as weekend rides, though. Too much traffic. Have you ever done 455 east of Celina all the way to 75? Some pretty interesting turns.

Ever make it to Indian Bridge? Took a new guy up there, he was impressed.

What about Sunday? Three or four of us are doing the 455 east route for sure (69 degrees, partly cloudy), meeting in Denton at 2 (Racetrac on 380). About 100 mile ride. Everyone invited!

What kind of work do you do?

To get on a 1099 tpe deal, you muct first find an entreprenuer, NON-corporate type company or owner.

Corporations are run by unseen machinery, and everything and everyone in it does not stand a chance of writing their own methods
and working conditions, much less their own paychecks.

Good luck.
