When was the last time you acted like a jerk on the bike or in the car??
Think it's like a subliminal way to try and keep actual speed down.
if i have anything to brag about, it's only the fact that i don't really have any tendencies toward dickish behaviour. i'm just an old-fashioned, easy-going, courteous guy.
Meh... I had to sit and honestly think about this for a second. My girlfriend is often shocked at the things I can make her VW Beetle do, how easily I can maneuver it. I don't drive aggressively in my definition of the word. But others may not agree.
I corner and change lanes pretty quickly. Even in the work E-350, you'll often see me sliding in and out of traffic. Catch is I use my signals religously, check the traffic behind me twice (once in the mirror and once with a head turn) and verify my path ahead as well. Where most people brake while turning, I guess I'm pretending I'm on my bike maintaining my speed or often accelerating thru the turn.
The only 'dickish' thing I can really think of is I don't yield for people attempting to force their way into my lane. Often here in Philly people will simply begin drifting over (or bogart if you're familiar with the term) to get into a lane. Most people will slow down and allow them in. I don't budge, essentially daring them to hit my vehicle. Once, I held my position to the point the guy had to emergency brake before he ran head first into a lane divider. But I'm also weird that if I see someone signalling to get over, I'll let them in easily. It's about 50/50 the times I get a "Thank you" wave / "**** you" finger.
My driving has much improved from when I was in my teens - early 20s. I haven't had a moving violation or accident that was my fault in over 15 years. 18-20... well let's just say the cops said my Isuzu Stylus rolled 7 times before cutting down a lightpole

lol, crap, i meant kph. speedos read in kph and my mind and fingers are always thinking mph.
man i gotta get back to the states, things are all falling out of sync for me here.
on the road when people tailgate or drive ten feet or less from me. i start to cussing and screaming at them through my helmet to back off, throwing my hands up!! i hate that, swear im gonna start throwing marbles at wind shields and kicking mirrors off....pisses me off even talking about it. why the hell do people think they can run bikes off the road?? definatly not gonna be getting my conceled weapons permit.(love to shoot some radiators out) lol!
seriously though, all jokes aside, ive learned to take routes that are less traveled and at time when i know traffic will be at a minimum on that route. also i try to act as if i were in a car because people do pull out and run you outta ur lane even when your driving a car. it just doesnt scare the hell out me as much as when on bike. and last but not least, if there is a lot of traffic slow down and get ready to use the emergency lane when some one runs near me or into my lane.

Besides all the stunt crap I used to do years ago,we used to drag race quite a bit @ US41. Coming back from the track,it was me on the 96 900rr, a 95 900rr,and a 01 GSXR 750. We're playing along heading south on 65, running them up to about 100mph or so from time to time. Well, the last little jaunt the other 900 didn't let off,and we let them go to an indicated 170mph,right past a Statey. He hit his lights, and we just kept the throttles pinned for about a minute. We slowed down to about a 100mph or so,and we all kind've of wondered what happened. After we got home we just assumed he said screw it,because we lost sight of him in a hurry. All this happened at night as well, looking back it was completely retarded.

I tend to road rage... and that used to get me in trouble in my early 20's caused a lot of crazy swerving cars at each other and cussing and all that crap. I have calmed down a lot especially with a motorcycle now. I tend to still be an offensive driver and place myself in the safest spot... ahead of all of the traffic. So I suppose the most "dickiest" thing I do is speed.
I really try to stay conscious of the road conditions and how those around me are driving. Since cagers are watching the road ahead it's really easy to lose sight of a motorcycle or not see us approach since we come up so fast. They don't use mirrors much and certainly don't head check before switching lanes so you have to watch out for them. This was my reality check the other day...
Lately I've been riding a lot harder than I ever used too. Idk if it's the new leather jacket, full gauntlet gloves, and riding boots that make me feel less in danger or what. Luckily where I live there's very little traffic and few places where deer cross. But there's been two occasions where I've opened it up on a straight up to about 135mph and have caught air over small bumps and crests. It never scares me as much as I always thought it would but I know it's wrong everytime I do it. I got a bit of a reality check last night after relaying one of these stories to some friends I was with. When one of them left and turned to me and said "be careful man I don't want to have to attend another friends funeral." It was simple and incredibly sincere but it hit home. I forget about the other people in my life that I affect and the impact it would have on them if something were to happen because I want to go fast. As for in a car the WRX I just bought has a 3 inch turbo back catless exhaust so any chance I get to be kinda loud and obnoxious in that I take haha. That'll wear off eventually but it just sounds so damn nice. That and I'm addicted to the first gear pull once it hits boost. But I always look at the mpg gauge afterwards and hate myself a little for it.
