i wouldn't take it until it was sorted. having said that, i wouldn't think its something serious though, probably a bad sensor or something. it could be as simple as something not being plugged in correctly. that's all it takes.

i usually go by the "don't buy first gen." until my wife talked me into buying the new hyundai sonata. 25k miles and it hasn't had anything more than a window switch go out on it. the only recalls on it were the shifter **** - because the leather tended to rub off.


my point is - that i haven't had any problems with the one thing i've bought first generation. and it's sooo much more complicated than a motorcycle - even one that has all the electronics on it like the new beemer.

what i'd be worried about is the actual way it's manufactured. i don't think ANY of the beemers motors will last that long. ultra short stroke, high compression, short skirts...

i really don't think ANY of the newer bikes are going to last that long because of the way they are designed. i'm not quite sure you'll ever see any high mileage motors that are built the way the newer bikes are - especially the beemer
