What the...?!
Well if it's a powerful female voice you seeks then please enjoy my offerings. I got the youtube app in my phone and have yet to discover how to crop a link from there so either wait till my evening (11:17am atm), or if someone would be kind enough to post into this thread the song Arctica, by Amberian Dawn.
Requires a particular state of mind, most easily acquired by sipping a pitch black porter and watching the rain soak the yellow falling leaves over a darkening autumn night. Something I plan on doing later today.
The said song is from the era when Heidi Parviainen, a trained classical singer, still was their front lady. After Heidi left in 2012 the band IMO took a musical plunge, but the album The End Of Eden occasionally finds it's way to the player.

What a voice! I'd listen to that again just to hear her even if the juxtaposition of her serene, clear voice with the frenetic background music didn't work well, which it surprisingly does.
This is interesting, a classic Karen Carpenter song stripped of most background music so it just leaves the voice.
Was incidentally sent by my sister in law, absolutely nothing to do with this thread. Just one of those interesting coincidences..

How does one embed a video?
Below is the embed code given by YouTube. According to them it's a copy/paste procedure, but that obviously doesn't work here. Scouring Google and Yahoo has given directions, but none of them work. At least, not here.

Finally got some time to sit down at my computer and link stuff and listen to the ones already posted, my phone did not agree to play that carpenter video and didn`t have time to listen to the Coleske:s before. So, to answer everyone in one post:
TK, I did listen to that video like 90% through. She has a nice voice but IMO not in any way special, hence the cutting short. Did not raise my interest. Sorry.
Shadow, I do know that first song, it is in every single TV shop "summer superparty hits" collection. Not that I listen to those but I have heard it the first time many many years ago. Those other songs were not so familiar, vanishing point sounds to me almost like "Survivor meets The Beach Boys" kinda stuff. Not bad but not my stuff either.
Dram, if you enjoyed that Amberian Dawn video but found the music too rough for your taste, have a go at this. I trust at least some of you MUST have heard of this band before as it is, along HIM, the most internationally known band from Finland. This one is a bit older song cause they have since parted ways with the singer Tarja Turunen, who has also gone through classical training.
I`ll save you from the heavier stuff but in the spirit of Metallica`s "whisky in the jar"...
And one more for that What the... effect. IMO this is a million times better than the original:

Mattson: I was listening to Berlioz' Symphonie Fantastique when reading your last post and interrupted it to listen to what you posted. A pleasant surprise. The first two are very nice, beautiful voices and background that doesn't drown them out. The Wind Beneath My Wings - well I prefer the original, but given the right mood could enjoy that version too.
Guilty admission: Guilty because I gave the impression all I enjoy is 50's and 60's pop music. Truth is I enjoy almost all music genres, but not all music within each genre.
Still trying to figure out how to embed a video. Other sites give an option to copy/paste to a url tag. I don't see that here. All I see when going advanced is the option to send trackbacks or attach pictures.
