A new buddy of mine was cruising this morningon HWY 41 in SW FL. The reports said he sped up to nearly speeds exceeding 80 MPH. I somewhat disbelieve this. That just isnt him. The speed limit on the road is 45 but no one does it. The speed limit should be 55 atleast. Anyways he T-boned a vehicle this morning. The vehicle was drivin by a 70 yr old man making a left turn. The bike from what I hear was instantly seperated into thousands of parts. He was wearing a helmet but that wasnt enough to save his life. He was pronouced dead at the scene. He was only 17 yrs old. Very nice guy. Just please remember we are not superman, nor wolverene. When we go down we feel pain, we suffer, sometimes we don't walk away.

Then Following this accident just a hour or so latter there were 2 more motorcycle wrecks bothI believe wereminor accidents where the riders lowsided in a turn. 1 drove away the 2nd was taken to the hospital to be checked up. these 2 wrecks occured just minutes after each other.

Today was just a bad day. To be a SW FL Rider. Needless to say the cops are on EXTRA lookout for bikes right now.

Wow, you really dont' think of how many riders die until you see it laid out in front of you and broken down into days...

 

A fast moving bike can be hard to see for some of the older drivers out there. I'm in Central Florida and it can be amazing how slowly they can drive, but how quickly they can decide to turn. Sorry to hear about your buddy and give those blue-hairs plenty of room.

 

Hey, this sucks man, it is hard to lose a friend. I lost two of them a couple of weeks ago in a car accident, they weren't riders, they were in a van, and a tandem truck tire got loose, hopped the median and took off the top of the van like it was a sardine can...one died instantly the other died in the hospital. I know it isn't quite the same, but I know what it is like to lose a friend(s), well before they should have gone. My best wishes to you and his family man...
