Default WALKIE TALKIE

has anyone tried to use a walkie talkie with a headset on their bike to talk to a passenger or another bike? i dont really wanna buy a chatterbox (too much ). so i was wondering if it might be able to work. if you mount it on the handlebars or somethin so you can easily press the button. for like 30 bucks it might be worth a try.

Its gonna hurt when the two get close to each other and squelch(sp) in your ear. How are you going to put them in your helmets? It has been forever since Ive seen talkies beside the ninja turtle ones my kids had. Do they have headsets for em?

I have the chatterbox. IMO not worth the money. I wouldnt worry about trying to set something up for cheap to use for a two way.

I went on countless group rides last year, and only a few people had them. And the ones that did, had no idea how to use the damn thing. Always hot mic'n.And plus they tend to go off when you least expect them too. Imagine getting set up for a hard 15mph 180 bend and as your entering the corner you hear someone yell into the headset "HOLY ****!!!" Not fun at all.

Unless you are always going to be riding with someone who has one, then its kinda worthless. I used mine for a long time just for the ipod. But the sound quality is crap. Ear buds is the only way to go!

I will break mine out only if I am riding with someone who knows how to use them, and doesnt want to chit chat the whole ride.

I was under the impression that a"walkie-talkie" is a childs toy, a "radio" is what you would be refering to.

If my two throat mics come in today or tomorrow I will try them out at Deals Gap this weekend.

Here's what I bought:
