Vick...what a winner....(choice quotes)
Vick...ahh...what to say other than i hope he rots in the depths of hell....[:@].....he just pleaded guilty today and here is the news link...
http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/08/27...ick/index.html
some choice quotes from the article and vick:
-------------------------------------------------------------
[Vick] said, "Through this situation I've found Jesus."
...
Vick vowed to redeem himself, saying, "I have to."
...
[Vick] said that he was "disappointed in myself" and that "dogfighting is a terrible thing and I ... reject it."
...
(one of my favorites....F$CK YOU FALCONS)
Team owner Arthur Blank on Monday said that Vick "betrayed the trust of many people." "We cannot tell you today that Michael is cut from the team. Cutting him may feel better emotionally for us and for many of our fans, but it's not in the long-term best interests of our franchise," Blank said.
...
(these people should be euthanized)
"Vick was met by cheering supporters as his attorneys and federal marshals escorted him into federal court in Richmond."
...
and the only silver lining in the article...(other than him serving jail time)
The federal case against Vick focused on the interstate conspiracy, but Vick's admission that he was involved in the killing of dogs could lead to local charges, Toobin said.
"It sometimes happens -- not often -- that the state will follow a federal prosecution by charging its own crimes for exactly the same behavior," Toobin said.
"The risk for Vick is, if he makes admissions in his federal guilty plea, the state of Virginia could say, 'Hey, look, you admitted violating Virginia state law as well. We're going to introduce that against you and charge you in our court.' "

It is funny, it is OK and even encouragedfor people to kill white Boxer puppies because they don't conform to the AKC 'standard', but Vick may go to jail. Not that I agree with either, punishments should exist for both.
http://www.boxerbuddies.org/Boxer%20...ite_boxers.htm
Thefourth paragraph states..'The problem is that many local breed clubs have not adopted this same philosophy and still have by-laws calling for the euthinization of any white offspring. '
So I guess if you are an animal lover you can kill puppies, but if you let them fight, you can't kill the seriously injured losers. Either way, people are f**ked up.

i am not by any means condoning the breeding tactics of some AKC breeders, i know some of them have a belief about keeping the breed "pure" and i think it's dumb....HOWEVER...that being said....they aren't really the same....those animals are euthanized (still wrong in my eyes mind you) whereas what vick did was beat dogs and train them to attack other dogs of the same breed with a tenacity to kill and with a blood lust....then for him and others to watch it like animals and cheer as dogs ripped ears and flesh off one another....then if it didn't "win", they shot, drowned, or beat the dog repeatedly until it died.....
once again....not saying breed euthanizing is right, but Vick is not in that same category...in my mind, he's a cold blooded killer.....

dunno man .. his redemption is between him and _ _ _ (<= your deity choice) .. if he gets the full jail term and fines that's all that's needed imo, although many wish for more. imo opinion if he really wants to attempt any possibility of the right step toward redemption, he should donate as many of his millions and as much time as possible (when released) to Humane Society causes. Won't absolve him but it's a right step ... surprised his PR people haven't told him to start on that yet. He really should look to Warrick Dunn (his teammate) to what a true Role Model should act like. Google that guy and see all the charitable causes he's involved in with not only his money but a ton of his time.
I haven't heard that one yet and you know a lot more about the law than I do but wouldn't this be double jeopardy? Charging with the same crime twice?

yeah i know...i am just pissed about it....i have been getting emails from the ASPCA and the HSUS and they are calling for just that, donation to many abuse and humanitarian organizations so we'll see what happens...
as for the double jeopardy thing....it's an interesting misconception that i too had before going to law school...double jeopary applies only in the same jurisdiction, meaning...easy way to explain this is imagine two guys on either side of a state line....one in state A and one in state B, guy in state A shoots across state line and kills guy in State B, guy who shot the gun can be convicted in either state or both states....different jurisdictions....double jeopardy only prevents being tried for the same crime in the same jurisdiction...there's a little more to it than this basic explanation, but you get the idea....
likewise, federal court is a separate court than local state courts....same reasoning applies where you can be acquitted of a criminal conviction, but lose in a civil trial on the same thing...different courts...e.g. OJ......
i haven't really heard of federal jail time then local...i don't know how sentencing would work, but i love to see how it works on him....

<I AM NOT DEFENDING VICK>
I heard earler on the News somewhere saying the Vick needs to repay SOCIETY. This is what serious confuses me when people say this exact statment. "Repay Society". How the hell does Vick need to repay society? Did he effect the greater country of America? NO. This man has no reason to repay, appoligise, do anything for ME and I highly doubt for any of you either. He needs to repay the dogs. Society can suck my *****. I don't owe anything to it. I pay my bills and my taxes. I don't owe nothing to anyone.

Begin rant.
I feela lot of it ismanipulation. The media doing what it does best and tries to over exert the situation--making it into a "reality" soap opera. It brings in the ratings right? ...like rabid hyenas onan injured or sick animal. Of course there's always the vultures swooping in to pick at what's left.
I wish the media would spend as much energy as they do on the negativeand focus on what good is happening in this world. I'd rather hear about boyscouts saving an elderly lady from heat exhaustion, or how a trusty old dog saved a child from drowning, or how X number of people finished their AA classes and are living lives that contribute to society. I'm tired of hearing how some people in this world are killing, raping, stealing, molesting etc. That's not news to me, that's reality and I'm just sick of hearing about it over and over. End rant.[:'(]
Was the dog killing wrong? Hell yeah. Should Vic pay some fines or do some time? Sure...but does the whole situation really warrant his life destruction by the media? Nah. I guess that's the price you pay for leading a high profile life. Boo media, let the man face his mistakes in peace...you've done quite enough already.[:@]
