Here in Australia, if the neighbourhood found out you poured it away, you get run out of town.
Have been in that situation before, but just drank more. Wots the alcohol rating or your beer over there? ours ranges from about 4.5%-4.9%,(average) up to about 7%. These days I make my own home brew (between 5%-???% depending on sugar amount & quality of yeasts), saving up for a fridge, you can do your home brew in a keg, so the keg stays in the fridge with the beer tap on the outside of the door.

I was avoiding this post because I didn't want to read about another downed rider.[&:] And how do you not get a lot of people to show up for free beer on a Friday night? I would have made the commute.

I thought it was going to be a downed rider too. Why did you have to pour the beer out? Why not just keep the keg til it was empty? Where I come from you pay a deposit on the Keg ($50), then pay to have it filled (cost depends on type of beer), and you rent a tap ($10). You keep the keg til it's empty, then take it back to the store and get your deposit back!
