Been hearing talk about Verizon buying Alltel.

I know there is a bunch of cell phone junkies on CBRF.

I read the deal has been done, But was wondering if anyone had an insight when the actual change was going to happen.

I ask because I have verizon and get almost no service at work, But Alltel has great service. So sooner the change sooner my coverage will be better.

Any body have more info? dates? etc...

 

I also have verizon. that would be cool. there are some spots where i just dont get service. id say 85% of the places i go i get outstanding service, though.

 

Only certain areas in 22 states will be affected, I believe Verizon is just going to keep the companies separate for all other areas. The other 22 states Verizon has to sell off its Alltel chains, the only states I know off hand are MT, ND, SD. From what I heard in those 3 areas they will either be At&t or Tmobile. Alltel uses CDMA towers, but I guess they can easily be converted in those areas to GSM! They had like 120 days from last month to sell of the chains, so somewhere before February.
