usps pisses me off. i RARELY use them anymore.

i sold some computer parts on ebay last june. it was only like $40 worth, but still a chunk of change. the buyer chose NOT to buy the insurance. i shipped the item. couple weeks later they said they never got them. ok, we wait aother week and then they file a claim with ebay, saying i never shipped the item. i photocopied my receipt from the post office, showing that a package was shipped to their zip code on the day after the sale ended. thye said it wasnt enough proof and actually TOOK the money out of my paypal account and gave it back to the buyer.

well anyways, about mid november last year, i get a package. its all roughed up. it was the package i tried to mail. it had a sticker on it that said unable to deliver. and it was TRASHED. package ripped up, the heatsink was completely destroyed.

i called up the post office and complained. they pretty much laughed. i brought the package into the post office and they said there is nothing they can do.

We are part of the USA and do not need to go through custom. However, getting things by parcel post takes like a month. Priority mail now offers better tracking system and it is only little bit more than parcel post. So I always ask people ship by Priority Mail. UPS ground gotten cheaper now. and lots of companies offer that as semi-free shipping.

In this ebay case, it was good that I insisted on priority mail. So they could tracking it down to JC Penny in Columbus OH (lol). Now they have to find the item.

Just recently though, they have way more human errors than before.

It seems like all shipping companies anymore are just a bunch of jackasses. I haven't had issues with USPS yet, but I shipped a fuel tank to jeff jones and they put a decent sized dent in the tank. I mean being steel and all (the dent was on a convex corner of the tank, even harder to dent inwards), they had to drop the **** out of it. And I had it bubble wrapped and air pocketed and whatever. But even if I took the BARE tank, that's a hell of a drop/impact.

That's the sad part. I can order things from China and get them here in a few days. I ordered grips for a hand gun from the Philippines and got them in 3 days.

I do have to stick up for USPS. Years ago I paid $0.05 to mail a letter. To day minimum wage, housing and car prices are 10 times more. So $0.50 to mail a letter is not off base.

I would trust them to deliver a small letter or package before I would trust the airlines to get a huge suitcase from point A to point B. I still can't figure out how a bag gets lost in the air. A friend of mine flew from Houston, TX to Albany, NY on a direct flight as not to stress his dog he was shipping below in the pet cargo hold. The dog ended up in Utah. It took 3 days to find the dog. The dog was a shepherd/collie mix, not a small dog or cage.
