Upgrading from 98 F3 to 06 F4i - Pros & cons

Hey guys long time no talk ! So I just won my new f4i on ebay a few days ago and I'm in the process of selling my F3, that's a little besides the point though. I know its not really that big of an upgrade, but I wanted to compile a list of pros and cons of each of the bikes to compare the two. Any ideas ? Anyone made this switch before ? Yes I know I should've got an RR ;p haha but honestly I kind of like the f4i better especially because of the fact that it serves my purposes much better than an RR would be able to (commuting). So yeah one of the main reasons i wanted the f4i is fo the FI. I am soooo tired of carburation. Also, of course the f4i just looks amazingly sexy to me, not that the f3 isn't but I like the f4i a bit more. So what do you guys think the pro's and con's of the switch are ? And of course if anyone is interested in the F3 you can PM me[off topic....but that's what this sections for, right?]. Haha, thanks guys looking forward to your responses ! :icon_toast:

Pros - Everything :D
Cons - CCTL

pro's:
-fuel injection.
-new fairings (only really a pro if your's are trashed on the f3)

cons:
-spending a lot of money on a very similar bike.
-the power is about the same.
-you don't get USD's.
-banana seat.
-probably will be the same comfort level - so you wouldn't be picking up more comfort.

i wouldn't do it. it will cost a lot to do that - and i don't really even consider it too much of an upgrade except for the FI

Really on the comfort level thing ? I thought just maybe since its newer the materials might be a little softer or something. And yeah that's one thing i'm worried about is the CCT but wasn't that fixed on the later / second gen models ? And all in all i'm only spending about $600 maybe $1000 max on the f4i as selling the f3 is supplementing most of the cost. I got a pretty good deal on the f4i on ebay. I was thinking, should I get the manual APE CCT for the new bike asap ? Or did they make a better automatic one that fixed the problem?

The CCL is not a big deal, all it does is make a lot of noise. Manual one is the best bet - they never really improved the stock one at all.

It's a good upgrade either way. It's like buying a 2002 BMW or a 2010 BMW - 2002 is still good, but the 2010 is better.

Yes, Honda did revise the CCT but the ticking by some still exists. Its plug & play.
As for the manual APE... Its a quality part & easily installed at in your garage.

IMO, the CCT "issue" is really a non-issue. Its easily replaced. If you can turn a wrench, you can replace it. FWIW, you can go a long time w/ the ticking b/f replacement. Its just an occasional annoyance, not the end of the world. ;-)

The "con" of a banana-seat mentioned by Conrice really *isn't* a con. Its all a matter of preference. You can keep the banana seat or do what I did & simply do a split-seat conversion. ;-) Take your pick.

Standard forks aren't a "con" either on the F4i. They are quite well built & work well on the F4i. If you find it necessary for your needs... There are many kits available from RaceTech/etc that will upgrade the OEM forks should you find it necessary. Put it this way... I commute, ride twisties(at a spirited pace), & ride track. I've never found the F4/F4i forks lacking on this model. Then again, I continually check & service my forks. ;-)
