http://www.lcdtvbuyingguide.com/lcdt...lcdvsdlp.shtml- i know tv's are alot of personal perference but reviewers say LCD beats DLP in every section except price and size..

That website is BS.
-DLP always wins for black levels. In an LCD you have a backlight always projecting light at the viewer, therefore always lighting up a pixel, no matter what color state it is in. You cant shine light through something that is black and clear and still have a total black.
-Clarity is usually the result of the manufacturer and the signal being fed, but my 46" DLP whoops on my 27" Westinghouse LCD (which was rated very well for its size and price range) in clarity for both standard-def and HD.
-DLP's have way better color saturation, hands down. The same reasons for DLP's better blacks also attributes its better colors and saturation.
-Accuracy brightness is a toss up. I have seen LCD's that are "brighter", but only by its light output, which ruins the colors anyways and creates a loss of saturation. Accuracy I would give to DLP, but only based on my experiences. Again, its based on manufacturer and signal. I have found the best overall brightness on plasmas anyways. They just to "pop" a whole lot more.
-Viewing angle is a split. DLP's are unbeatable for horizontal viewing angle, but once you get to a certain verticle position they get funky, and you start to see a double image. LCD is ok vertically, but I have found they lose quality when shifting horizontally. But youre more likely to shift your horizontal position than your vertical position, so I guess that aspect is more user dependent.
-Size to price is the only thing they really got right.

Now, I may be a little DLP biased because I have owned one for almost 2 years now, but I have also experienced both formats and have found that DLP usually kills LCD in pretty much everything. The LCD's I have seen have horrid PQ in standard def, which is what most of watch most of the time, and good HD pictures. My DLP has an excellent standard def picture, sometimes almost as good as an HD picture on an LCD, and HD is absolutely amazing. Unlike an LCD or even plasma, you cant see each individual pixel on a DLP(or screen door effect as its called) if youre sitting too close to the set, and this attribute helps overall clarity no matter what distance youre at.

Anyways, good luck with what you choose, do your homework, and compare like hell when youre at the store!! You dont want to get home and unpack the thing only to find that no matter how you adjust it, it just doesnt look good with your particular signal. Remember, the stores are usually showing you an HD signal that has very good PQ no matter what TV is being shown on.

Oh, I will check it all out. I am pretty much looking for a flat screen to hang on my fireplace so that would rule out the DLP. I agree with you on the plasma though. My girl just got a 42" panasonic that is really sweet and has deep blacks. My main issue with those is dependability. I have read that the high altitude where I am (Denver)could jack them up...burn in...ect. That would totally blow to drop $1,500 and only get a year or two out of it.

well depends on what kind of use you want the plasma for.. if your watching ESPN or CNBC all day long - the ticker on the bottom will probbly burn-in.. Also if you play alot of games that have indicators will probbly burn in.
But if your just looking for movies (i got alot of friends that never play games nor watch tv.. just movies) plasma's are a blessing to them.. so vivid *drools*

Well now! This is my subject!!!!!!

Your best "bang for the buck" is going to be a Toshiba. GREAT LCD's! The 42" 1080p Toshiba REGZA (42HL167) is going for $1619.99 at Best Buy this week.

I own the smaller 32" version of this TV for my bedroom (32HL67). We have a 46" 1080p Samsung LCD in the living room, but I'm not the biggest fan. Samsung's always seems to have a grainier picture than the other TV's. Not to mention, it has a glossy display, which makes daytime TV watching annoying.

Sony's (especially the new XBR4's) have THE BEST picture out of all the LCD's, but they are a bit pricey ($2499 for a 40", but the 46" is on sale this week too, also for $2499)

If you are looking at a 42", I would STRONGLY recommend the Toshiba. They're great, and are usually over looked.

Vizio's are alright TV's, but we have a lot of people coming in complaining about them going out/dead pixels/locking up/not switching inputs, etc.
