"Track Bike"

noob question: I would like some clarification on the term "track bike". Obviously, there were some changes on the bike that were intended to be ridden on the track. But does it also mean that it is no longer street legal?

Yes if you were to make strictly a "track bike", no mirrors, no lights, no plates all make your bike illegal. Try riding around Sussex WI for 7 seconds like that you'll get sent to prison for 32 years but not before you're left sitting on the side of the road for 2 hours while the officers think about how long they want to keep you there, how much they want to harass you, and how long you should be in prison for. haha I want a track bike though.

A track bike loses all electrical equipment that isn't necessary to run the bike, bolts and nuts safety wired to the frame so they don't fly off. Everything OEM that can be replaced with lighter, stronger aftermarket parts should be, rearsets, clip-ons, fairing stay, perches, levers, rotors, brake pads, rear shock, forks, wheels and racing bodywork that will allow for around 5qts. of oil into the bellypan without spilling it onto the track.

Now, if you ride a bike like this on the street - who would argue that you might get stopped and have a handfull of questions to answer?

I think Snowboarding was butt-raped as a child by a large man in a fake po-po uniform - don't mind him too much. We leave him be, he had a rough childhood.
