Default totaled bike

ok so. i have a 97 cbr 900rr with 26000 ish miles on it.

my room mate ran it over so i talked to the insurance company and they deemed it totaled.

what kinda of money can i expect to receive ?

am i going to get a 1700ish ( cause that's probably what its worth to someone else even with the Mods.) and get screwed because it's riding season and prices are high?

wondering if anyone has had any experience with this! thanks!

How bad is the damage? You might be able to buy it back from the insurance company and fix it if its not too bad. Otherwise, expect around 2k probably.

cosmetic, except for whatever is cracked underneath that is causing oil to leak. which is what the majority of the damage was.

If its a cracked pan or clutch cover, you could have that replaced cheaply. Insurance companies write off bikes if it smells bad, so you might be able to get it as a salvage title and fix it up for a few hundred.

My bike was hit by a 3 quarter ton pick up at 25mph. Dent in the tank, side plastics scratched, and the mirror was scratched. Insurance totaled it. They gave me 2.5k and I was able to keep the bike. Fixed it for 1k

I should probably add that it was a 2006 F4i.

If you are going to keep the bike, they will give you 2/3 or so of your bike's value. At least that's how it came about on my bike. From the blue book value, they deduct salvage value that junk yard will pay for your bike, and the remaining balance is yours
