Update...

How about this?
http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/mcy/876203183.html
^I'm not thrilled about it, but the price is good, and I have a feeling that I can pick it up for under $3,000. Think it's junk? I actually don't mind the flat black look. That is, assuming the fairings are in reasonable shape, and the paint job looks good.

^nicer, but it's not exactly a looker, imo (don't like the color)

^I made an offer on this one, but dude won't budge. Not Cool.

^Hmmm. 600rr? Wouldn't mind one. Looks repainted.

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/823553035.html
^another 929

http://akroncanton.craigslist.org/mcy/873254210.html
^41k miles? Holy *********! If I could get him down to 3,500, I might consider this 929, if it was very well maintained.

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/844891120.html
^a 929 worth considering

http://cleveland.craigslist.org/mcy/881108222.html
^another 600rr worth looking at. Why am I not finding F4i's in Ohio for as good a price?

This is annoying. I just wish the perfect bike could appear in my garage for $4,000.
I know, I know,

Where you from Greek? If I'd have known you were in or around Pittsburgh, I might have been able to help you out more...

Canton, Oh. It's actually about 2 hrs from pittsburgh: See?

I'm willing to go that far , but no farther, unless we're talking in the area around dearborn mi, because I have a friend who drives a van (and has a trailer), who constantly does work in that area.

Obvoiusly, the closer to me, the better. I'd appreciate any help. Thx shoortbuss.

This guy said the tires on the bike are "track take offs". WTF does that mean?

ORIGINAL: Hoosier1104

DOT legal street tires
I get it. He's saying that he puts them on when he's not at the track, so that he has street legal tires on it. Or, that it spends most of it's time at the track, and he put on crappy tires so he could sell it (most likely).

BTW, why do I constantly have to un-check "notify me via e-mail when someone replies" (below) before I post to keep from getting an e-mail. Is there a way to default the decision so that I don't have to click it?

Local club racer types use the sticky tires for one day of laps and then "take them off" for a brand new set, but sometimes the tires are in good enough shape for street use.

I used to put on track take-offs...but I prefer brand-new-same-brand-front-and-rear these days...

Good luck finding a new bike! Sounds fun.

EDIT: oops, sorry, saying the bike has "track take-offs" doesn't necessarily mean it has seen the track. Say one guy takes his bike to track days with new tires, takes them off after and sells them to his buddies too poor or chicken to take their own bike to the track...

^929 for $3,500! It's like a three hour drive, but it's close to Dearborn, so I might be able to recruit my buddy who is often in the area. I called the owner of the bike, and he said that he just really needs the cash to get a house, and everything is very good on the bike. It doesn't need anything. He he's gotten like 3 other calls on it in two days, so I'm worried that it might be gone by the time I can get out there. I'm hoping for the best!
